The municipality of Milan finances the substitution or the restrucrtation of industrial boilers and big civil steam generatin stations. The objective is to raise the thermal efficiency of the existing asset so that it will be possible to reduce the energy consumption and the pollutant emissions in the atmosphere (particularly  CO2).

Subjects concerned:

• Industrial boilers with power between 1 and 40 MWt

• Civil boliers with power between with power of almost 10 MWt

• Thermal efficiency up to 88%

• Use of conventional gas or liquid fuel

• Production of heated water, steam, diathermic oil.

The maximum financement reaches 25% of the costs afforded to purchase a new boler or restructure the existing one.

The Municiplaity of Milano performs sample controls on big thermical plants and on single-family boilers, in order to verify the conditions and the state of maintenance. The control is performed by verifiers , which visit is announced by a communication by teh Municpality of Milan.

The controls, charged to the users by the law ( DPR 551), are free for the heating installations with less than  35 kW exposing the Green Label. The Green Label certificates the maintenance operations and is released by municipal contract maintainers or by the Plants Service of the municiaplity , at the steady price of £ 10.000.

The results of the campaign in winter 2000/2001
The 11 verifiers active in 200/2001 have performed 6000 controls, with 2 stops to autonomous single-family plants and 1 centralised plant. 980 injunctions were passed to improve the anomalies detected.
